THE Thai Department of International Trade Promotion and members of the Thai private film industry will be joining the American Film Market & Conferences 2017 (AFM 2017) next month and expect to close deals worth at least 300 million baht, INN News said today (Oct. 12).
Chantira Jimreivat, head of the Department of International Trade Promotion, said AFM, which this year is taking place during November 1-8 at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in Santa Monica, is the biggest film and animation market in US and Thais are participating to promote film and animation trade plus build business networks.

It is expected that trade talks this year will lead to 300 million baht in new business or 10% increase over last year.
The Thai movie business market is estimated to be 24 billion baht with exports being 10% of this total and the outlook being for continuous growth, Ms Chantira said.
According Americanfilmmarket.com, the American Film Market is the world’s largest motion picture business event. Over 7,000 industry leaders converge in Santa Monica for eight days of deal-making, screenings, conferences, networking and parties.
Participants come from more than 80 countries and include acquisition and development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, festival directors, financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers, the world’s press all those who provide services to the motion picture industry.
